Tecnalia has obtained accreditation from ENAC for testing to the BS 8414 standard in relation to fire spreading in building façades. These tests help determine the behaviour of a fire caused by either an external source or starting inside a room.

Therefore, Xabier Olano, head of Tecnalia's Fire and Structural Safety Laboratory, noted that one of the reasons that has led them to obtain this new accreditation is to "give our customers greater confidence, given that accreditation means that the test's execution, equipment and documentation as well as staff qualifications are reviewed, validated and controlled periodically by ENAC”. In fact, adds the head of Tecnalia, "it is becoming more common for consultants and designers to request testing by accredited bodies, in order to obtain more reliable results and reduce the risks".

Making it easier to access external markets has also added crucial weight to this accreditation as the construction industry in general, and the façade businesses in particular, work in an increasingly global market, and one of the keys to success is eliminating technical and regulatory barriers between different markets: “It is expected that these new tests will serve as a passport for our customers when dealing with an increasingly global market, and the ENAC mark (recognized internationally in more than 90 countries through the Multilateral Agreements within ILAC) will serve to remove technical and administrative barriers", explains Xabier Olano.
