From the 17th to 21st October, ENAC was inspected by an audit team from the European Accreditation (EA) - the European Association of accreditation bodies, to extend their Multilateral Recognition Agreements (MLA) to Proficiency Testing Providers (PTP) accreditation activity.

Currently, the recognitions signed up for with the EA include almost all of the activities ENAC accredits: testing, calibration, certification systems, product and persons, inspection and verification of Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading System, as well as those corresponding to the Environmental Verifiers who act within the EMAS Regulation framework.

The EA inspection was conducted by an audit team consisting of 2 Auditors, led by auditing Chief Christina Waddington-Walden, from the Finnish accreditation body (FINAS), and David Lowe, an auditor from the United Kingdom's accreditation body (UKAS).

During the week, the EA audit team examined the PTP accreditation system procedures, inspecting both the supporting documents and activity records. In addition, several members of ENAC's technical team were interviewed, and finally, they accompanied ENAC audit teams to their audits. The final evaluation and the comments will serve to improve our accreditation processes for the activity.

The outcome has been very satisfactory, with only one non-conformity and one comment. From now on, the process will include the audit team emitting the final report and ENAC preparing the corresponding corrective action plan that will be studied next April by the MLA Council, the EA body responsible for making decisions.
