ENAC has accredited Certmetal; the certification of persons unit of the Metal Business Federation in Alicante province (FEMPA), to certify three occupational categories in the field of installation and maintenance of industrial, pedestrian and firewall doors, thereby becoming the first accredited body to certify these professional profiles.

FEMPA began to develop certification schemes in 2012, in the gas installation and gas appliance installation sector. This experience and "the interest noted among professionals and companies in the automatic door sector for effective and real professionalism in installing and upkeeping automatic doors", explained Luis Rodríguez, FEMPA General Secretary, it was the starting point that encouraged the Metal Federation, supported by the Spanish Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (APA), to develop this second certification scheme, which has been funded by the Alicante Provincial Council.

After developing the scheme and ENAC inspecting the certification of persons service, Luis Rodríguez stressed the added value accreditation has given this activity: "The certification of persons service accredited by ENAC according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard is the suitable instrument for recognizing, via an independent assessment, the professional's know-how, not only their knowledge, skills or aptitude, but also their ability to apply them when performing professionally".

Therefore, for the FEMPA General Secretary, certification of persons provides professionals with a "value differentiator in the labour market, contributing to their personal and professional development, increasing their prestige and giving them the security of possessing the appropriate guidelines to carry out their work".
