The National Accreditation Body (ENAC) has recently signed cooperation agreements with the Spanish Society of Laboratory Medicine (SEQC-ML) and the Spanish Association of Medical Biopathology-Laboratory Medicine (AEBM-ML) through which the agencies agreed to promote clinical laboratory quality in Spain and to promote accreditation use in the health sector.

The agreements were signed by Beatriz Rivera Director General of ENAC, and by the respective Presidents of SEQC and AEBM, Dr. Inma Caballé and Dr. Santiago Prieto.

ENAC's and the SEQC-ML's areas of collaboration in the agreement include training activities, dissemination and social promotion which contribute to demonstrating accreditation’s general importance for society and the Spanish health system (and, particularly the ISO standards 15189 and ISO 22870). Likewise, these activities will be aimed at improving technical levels, diagnostic effectiveness and efficient analyses.

Moreover, the agreement signed between ENAC and the AEBM commits both organizations to guaranteeing improved technical levels and efficient inspections, certifications and analysis activities carried out in this sector.
