The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda has recently published the Royal Decree 235/2018 amending Royal Decree 1597/2011 by regulating the National Inspection System of Biofuel and Bioliquid Sustainability. Among the changes of the Royal Decree 1597/2011, article 11 establishes that the biofuel or bioliquid sustainability inspection report demanded by economic operators can be issued by a sustainability inspection body accredited by ENAC as a product certification in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17065 standard.

The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda intends to develop additional provisions for issuing the sustainability inspection report, as well as for carrying out audits of economic operators. Therefore, in January 2018, the public consultation period of the Order Proposal ended that developed detailed aspects for issuing the biofuel and bioliquid sustainability inspection report.

Once the Order is posted, ENAC will be ready to receive requests to accredit certification bodies according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17065 standard, to issue biofuel and bioliquid sustainability inspection reports in the National Sustainability Inspection System.

For questions about this accreditation activity, please contact Oscar Recuero, Head of the ENAC's Environmental Department.
