ENAC recently awarded Ambientalys Consulting and Analysis the first accreditation for testing assigned hygienic status and sanitation operations inspection of HVAC ducts.

The accredited testing plays an important role in ensuring the environmental quality of the building's interior, as the poor state of air conditioning equipment may cause various present contaminants such as dirt, microorganisms, dust, fungi and residual waste to accumulate in the environment. These contaminants can be transferred to the building's users which can lead to discomfort and health problems. To avoid this situation, legislation requires that all installations with more than 70kW power should have an annual review of the air conditioning duct networks and the interior's environmental quality according to the UNE100012 standard (sanitizing air conditioning systems).

In this sense, the accredited testing is designed to inspect and validate the HVAC sanitation operations to decide if an air conditioning system should be sanitized or not.

Enrique Mira, CEO of Ambientalys, stresses the importance of the results for optimizing costs to its customers: "air conditioning system sanitation operations are activities with a high economic cost and are time-consuming for their design, planning and execution. They are high-impact activities for the building's owners. For the customers, the fact of having these accredited tests provides a reliable, objective, rigorous tool to help make important confident, safe decisions".
