Infinia Ingeniería has recently obtained the first ENAC accreditation to perform inspection of the minimum requirements for universal accessibility activities in urban public spaces, passing the ENAC assessment according to the international ISO 17020 standard.

The applicable standard on the matter of accessibility is the Ministerial Order VIV/561/2010, which sets out technical criteria, and complements the text of the Royal Decree 505/2007, laying down the basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination of people with disabilities to access and use urban public spaces and buildings. The conditions contained in this order are applicable to any previously developed public space and liable to reasonable adjustments from January 1, 2019 and to all areas of new development in the six months of its publication.

Services accredited by ENAC "will allow the client to verify its compliance with the minimum accessibility requirements within urban spaces, as well as to certify the degree of compliance with the standard in those cases when it does not comply with the whole scope, so as to provide quality technical information to the customer", explains Rubén Gómez, head of Inspection at Infinia Ingeniería.

Likewise, Infinia's head of inspection explains that ENAC's accreditation has resulted in "reaching the company's first major strategic milestone": "you can say that this is the beginning of Infinia as a national-level inspection body. Aligned with current legislation, we have set up a rigorous technical methodology, supported by experienced inspection staff, backed by ENAC, guaranteeing our clients confidence, safety and maximum rigour”.

Why have accredited inspection

Accreditation is the internationally accepted mechanism to determine evaluators' technical expertise as inspection bodies. This provides confidence to the public administration and the market in general that the companies offer the most reliable assessment services. Having services accredited by ENAC is opting for services that have demonstrated their technical soundness against internationally recognised standards, which gives the confidence customers demand and, therefore is an added value in terms of efficiency and safety, as well as enabling new markets to open and making it easier to access public procurement.
