LGAI Technological Center: the first accredited certification body to operate under the European cybersecurity certification scheme EUCC
ENAC has recently granted LGAI Technological Centre accreditation for ICT product security certification, specifically for generic software and network products in accordance with the recently published Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/3144, which sets out specific requirements for certification bodies within the framework of the European certification scheme based on Common Criteria (EUCC), becoming the first accredited certification body in Spain for this activity.
With this, the Spanish market already has accredited services for all the assessment activities included in the scheme, since, in addition to the accreditation granted in the certification field, there are already two accredited laboratories in testing: the LGAI Technological Centre's own laboratory and DEKRA Testing and Certification.
The EUCC scheme, developed under the regulation known as the 'Cybersecurity Act', aims to raise the cybersecurity level for ICT products in the community market. Specifically, it enables security product providers, such as for smart cards, devices and network systems, user access control, or key management, among many other products, to demonstrate their security by undergoing a common assessment process across the EU.
The EUCC development has been the result of intense effort by ENISA with stakeholder participation, in which ENAC has played a leading role in developing the documents 'Accreditation of ITSEFs for the EUCC Scheme' and 'Accreditation of CBs for the EUCC Scheme', with Rosalina Porres, head of the ICT section in ENAC's Product Laboratories and Certification department and responsible for cybersecurity accreditation schemes, as EA's representative in the working groups developing these documents.
From the moment the scheme was approved by the European Commission, ENAC has made the corresponding accreditation schemes available to laboratories and certification bodies wanting to operate under this scheme so that Spanish industry can start their products’ assessment processes as soon as possible.
Interested bodies seeking more information about this accreditation scheme can contact Rosalina Porres.
