ENAC has recently granted AB-Aucatel Inspection & Control accreditation for environmental inspection in facilities subject to Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) regulations according to Decree 16/2024, published by the Ministry of Environment, Housing, and Territorial Planning of Castilla y León. This makes it the first accredited body for this activity, which specifically covers inspecting industrial facilities, waste managers, and livestock operations.

This decree regulates the system of monitoring, inspection, and control of potentially polluting activities and facilities in the region, as well as creating and regulating the figure of Accredited Environmental Control Organizations (OCAA). Likewise, in order to operate, these organizations must be registered in the OCAA Registry of Castilla y León, for which it is essential to be accredited by ENAC according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17020 standard, to carry out inspections in livestock farms (PEC-EG), industrial facilities and/or waste managers (PEC-IG), and landfills with integrated environmental authorization (PEC-VE), approved by the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability.

With this first accreditation, the environmental authorities of Castilla y León now have an accredited inspection body to carry out environmental inspections in facilities subject to IPPC regulations. This further reinforces the trust placed, once again, by the Public Administration in ENAC accreditation as a key tool to ensure technical competence and the reliability of actions in environmental control matters.
