SHAPYPRO, first accredited proficiency testing provider of biocidal efficacy suitability for antiseptic products and chemical disinfectants
ENAC has recently granted the first accreditation to SHAPYPRO as a proficiency testing provider of biocidal efficacy for antiseptic products and chemical disinfectants. These tests aim to assess biocides based on their activity (bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal and yeasticidal) and the area to apply the product, in accordance with certain requirements defined in the UNE-EN 14885:2023 standard.
Laboratories participate in these proficiency tests with methods for determining the biocidal activity of products (antiseptics and chemical disinfectants) and verify that these products possess the specific properties declared for application. These products can be used in human and veterinary medicine areas, and in food, industrial, domestic and institutional sectors.
Having accreditation was a priority from the beginning for SHAPYPRO, as "its founder managed the Quality department of a biocide efficacy analysis laboratory for more than five years without finding any accredited provider in the world to develop these proficiency tests, and so decided to create the SHAPYPRO project and apply for ENAC accreditation", explains Cristina Nieves, QA Bio-Tech Entrepreneur at SHAPYPRO.
On the benefits obtained from accreditation, Cristina Nieves highlights: "Accreditation gives us international recognition and confidence in our results, from our participants and also from their national accreditation bodies (in charge of assessing their technical competence thanks to our report), therefore, we clearly set ourselves apart from the competition by showing our commitment to quality and continuously improving our organization”.
Regarding the added value for laboratories making use of their accredited services, she stresses: "The main advantage of participating in our proficiency tests is that it will allow participating laboratories to provide evidence of their technical competence to their national accreditation body, which will make it easier for them to maintain or achieve accreditation under the requirements of ISO 17025. In addition, they will obtain a competent, impartial and consistent service, which will enable them to identify problems in their laboratory, help initiate corrective actions, establish effective test methods and control performance through continuous monitoring, providing additional confidence for their customers with our certificate of participation.”
