The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has recently published the TED/1191/2024 Order, which regulates the water volume control systems for extracted, discharged and reused water in the public hydraulic domain, and which studies the performance of these systems’ periodic control activities that may be carried out by a body collaborating with the Hydraulic Administration, ECAH, by the users' community or by the usage or discharge owner, provided that they have the corresponding ENAC accreditation in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17020 standard.

Likewise, these control systems are required to be periodically reviewed by ENAC-accredited bodies.

If you are interested in applying for accreditation for this type of activity, you can contact Óscar Recuero, Head of ENAC's Environment Department.

The TED/1191/2024 Order is another example of MITERD's trust in ENAC's accreditation to fulfill its public policy objectives, in this case in terms of controlling the volumes of extracted, discharged and reused water, in order to promote the sustainable and responsible use of water resources.

This Order is also in addition to the recently approved RD 1085/2024, which approves the Water Reuse Regulation and sets out that the control tests for the reused water quality will be carried out by ENAC-accredited laboratories according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
