“Accreditation gives us greater market consolidation, more comprehensive control and allows us to be much more agile in developing new projects”, Gemma Ferrer, Laboratory Manager in Compin-Fainsa

The Compin - Fainsa group, supplier of manufacturers such as CAF, Talgo or Siemens, came about from the merger of two leading interior equipment companies, including manufacturing, repair and maintenance of seat components and other parts, and accessories for motor and railway vehicles. It has its own testing laboratories for products to do with manufacturing seating for trains and buses enabling them to carry out manufacturing quality and fire safety controls. These have recently obtained ENAC's accreditation in accordance with UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025.

Gemma Ferrer, Laboratory Manager at Compin-Fainsa, in the following interview explained the value its laboratory's manufacturing processes internal control accreditation has brought to the company and to customer confidence.

Why did you decide to rely on internal control accreditation for activities carried out by your laboratory?

Fainsa focuses its production in the railway sector, one of the most demanding in fire safety regulation compliance with a long history of product analysis and testing, enabling them to make in-plant production controls and also to approve new projects.

The commitment to internal control activity and homologation accreditation has been very clear, giving us greater market consolidation with very high demands to achieve more thorough control and it also enables us to be much more agile in developing new projectsWe therefore offer our customers a greater compliance guarantee.

What guarantees does this accreditation give you regarding your customers?

The accredited laboratory directly affects our product manufacturing of railway seating. Obtaining accreditation provides a very broad guarantee: not only are we saying that the equipment carrying out the tests is compliant, but also the management and quality system and the staff involved meet demands. For me, another important advantage, especially in a globalised world, is that accreditation is valid in all EU Member States and all those countries that recognise it.

With five production centres in Europe and a network of distributors around the world, does accreditation have a commitment to consolidate in these countries and to continue expanding markets?

Of course, having ENAC's accreditation under the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard enables us to provide more guarantees for our product manufacturing in all centres, not only in the initial approval but also in the production control. The industry's demands and the agility to provide solutions to our customers makes Compin-Fainsa more consolidated in Europe and also helps to achieve new markets.
