International Scope

ENAC accreditation is recognised in over 45 countries as ENAC is a signatory of the mutual recognition agreements arranged on an international level between accreditation bodies all over the world.

These agreements mean Spanish products and services entering foreign markets with certificates issued by ENAC -accredited laboratories or institutions have any technical obstacles (in the form of supplementary checks or tests in the importing country) in these markets reduced significantly and even removed.

At present the signatory countries of these agreements include practically the whole of the EU and EFTA, as well as the USA, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, etc.

These agreements, which represent technical support for international trade, building cross-border trust and acceptance of information provided by accredited conformity assessors, are drawn up and managed within international accreditation organisations:

  • EA, European Cooperation for Accreditation, comprises EU and EFTA laboratory accreditation bodies and certifying and inspection bodies recognized nationwide.http://www.european-accreditation.org

  • ILAC, International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, comprises laboratory accreditation bodies worldwide.http://www.ilac.org/

  • IAF,  International Accreditation Forum, comprises certifying body accreditation organisations worldwide http://www.iaf.nu/

The accreditation bodies in these organisations work to the same international standards and equivalent transparent methods, verified by undertaking cross-audits, enabling multilateral recognition agreements to be arranged (MLAs).

By signing the MLA, accreditation bodies assure the equivalence of their accreditation systems and, therefore, that of the activities of accredited organisations, building cross-border trust and acceptance of information provided by conformity assessors irrespective of the country in which they are located.

Multilateral recognition agreements make accreditation a “passport” easing access to markets. The presence of the ENAC Accreditation Mark in reports and certificates is the assurance of being able to rely on this endorsement.

ENAC’s international scope provides Spanish companies the chance to able to count on support that is recognised in international markets for the free movement of their products and services, without their needing to be subjected to further testing.
