ENAC mark

The ENAC mark or reference to accredited status in the reports or certificates is the means by which accredited organisations publicly declare compliance to accreditation requirements.

Users will easily recognise the documents issued as a result of accredited activities (test reports, certificates, etc.) through the ENAC mark. Its presence on reports and certificates is the guarantee of their having the advantages offered by accreditation, including international acceptance.

Certificates and reports without the accreditation mark or reference to accreditation cannot be rated as “accredited documents” and therefore do not benefit from these advantages.

Only those organisations can make use of the ENAC Mark or reference to accredited status that are actually accredited. Improper or fraudulent use may give rise to ENAC bringing legal action against offenders.

The ENAC Marks permit clear identification of tests, calibrations and certifications that have the backing of the Multilateral Recognition Agreements signed up to by over 50 countries.

These agreements represent technical backing for international trade and enable certificates and reports issued by accredited organisations and the products or services covered by them to be readily accepted in the international marketplace, thereby contributing to the breaking down of technical barriers and to the lowering of assessment costs.

Inclusion of the mark means that customers and users who receive a certificate or report immediately recognise that the laboratory or the certifying body that has issued it has international accreditation and recognition.

To raise the international profile of accreditation, the accreditor organisations ILAC and IAF have produced their own marks for joint use with national marks. Bodies accredited by ENAC may use these combined marks instead of the ENAC mark, although their significance is identical to the ENAC mark.
